Two people. Ten chances. One unforgettable love story.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away. Certain they're fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn't find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they "reunite" at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It's Jack, the man from the bus. It would be. What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered. One Day in December is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

Oh my goodness this love story! If you’re looking for a rom-com style of book that sends you through a roller coaster of emotions, look no further. This book had my heart racing, breaking, and completely, utterly, happy - all in 394 pages. Initially, I thought this book would be a typical love at first sight with some sort of silly obstacle in the way that the characters quickly overcome and ultimately end up together with everyone cheering them on throughout the way. Nope, you won’t find that here. Although this is a fiction book, it provides real life scenarios. Some of it is fun but not all of it is pretty, and this story packs in 10 YEARS worth of it. This is not a quick linear love story, which I really appreciated. I give this book a 4 star rating. It was a good read that sent me through a variety of emotions. While it is fiction, it’s believable. Sure, there are parts (just like in any romantic comedy) where you have to accept an unrealistic bit here and there and keep going. But overall, I found this to be a very good and well written book.
