From Goodreads
The de Vincent brothers are back—and so is the
intrigue that surrounds them—in New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout’s sizzling new novel...
Nicolette Bresson never thought she’d return to the de Vincents’ bayou compound. It’s where her parents work, where Nikki grew up... and where she got her heart broken by Gabriel de Vincent himself. Yet here she is, filling in for her sick mother. Avoiding Gabe should be easy, especially when so much of Nikki’s time is spent trying not to be stabbed in the back by the malicious hangers-on who frequent the mansion. But escaping memories of Gabe, much less his smoking-hot presence, is harder than expected—especially since he seems determined to be in Nikki’s space as much as possible.
Gabriel spent years beating himself up over his last encounter with Nikki. He’d wanted her then, but for reasons that were bad for both of them. Things have now changed. Gabe sees more than a girl he’s known forever; he sees a smart, talented, and heartbreakingly beautiful woman... one who’s being stalked from the shadows. Now, Gabe will do anything to keep Nikki safe—and to stop the de Vincent curse from striking again.
My Review
The second book in the de Vincent series, Moonlight Seduction, does not disappoint. I loved the first book and immediately downloaded the second and I have no regrets.
In this book, we meet Nicolette, or Nikki, who grew up with the brothers at their house. As a kid, she had her very first crush-and heartbreak-with the middle brother, Gabriel. I loved reading Nikki’s point of view because she is a strong independent woman. We see a lot more of Gabriel in this book and get to see his POV as well. I found Gabriel to be very interesting and I liked how he looked out for Nikki. Their love story does not come easy. There is a lot of hurt between the two that they have to overcome to even be around one another in the de Vincent home.
On top of navigating each other and their emotions, Nikki and Gabe have their own spooky story to contend with at the de Vincent mansion. When little things here and there begin to add up, it soon becomes glaringly obvious that Nikki’s life is in danger by returning to de Vincent’s home. Tensions run nearly as high as worry and my heart was pounding by every turn of the page as I tried to figure out how this book was going to end.
The second book in the de Vincent series lives up to the first. If you liked the first book, do yourself a favor and read this one too.
