From Goodreads
With her inquisitive mind, Charlotte Holmes has never felt comfortable with the demureness expected of the fairer sex in upper class society. But even she never thought that she would become a social pariah, an outcast fending for herself on the mean streets of London.
When the city is struck by a trio of unexpected deaths and suspicion falls on her sister and her father, Charlotte is desperate to find the true culprits and clear the family name. She’ll have help from friends new and old—a kind-hearted widow, a police inspector, and a man who has long loved her.
But in the end, it will be up to Charlotte, under the assumed name Sherlock Holmes, to challenge society’s expectations and match wits against an unseen mastermind.
My Review
I am a sucker for a Sherlock Holmes story (including movies). I just love all of them, and this book was no different! In the Lady Sherlock series, the name Sherlock Holmes is assumed to be a man by design, however the face behind the name is none other than *gasp* a woman named Charlotte Holmes. Set in the 1800s, this book showcases a lot of the double standards, inequality, and scandal that woman faced. It is also a great murder mystery/who dunnit?
There are multiple POVs which made this book very enjoyable to read. I felt like the pace of this book was also very good, there were a few spots here and there that may have been a little slow or seemingly unimportant, but as any good Sherlock Holmes fan knows, those are the moments that matter most.
I highly recommend this book! It was a fun, great read that left me wanting to devour the entire series.
