From Goodreads

Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.

My Review

SPOILER FREE REVIEW

I am so excited to be doing a reread of A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) series because...

1- It is my FAVORITE series

2- It’s prep work for the upcoming release of A Court of Silver Flames

3- I wasn’t doing book reviews the first time I read the series and I didn’t want to review it when so much time had passed since I initially read it.

I recently finished my (first) reread of ACOTAR this week and I’m so freaking glad to be back in this world. It’s just the best.

ACOTAR is a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a dramatic twist of being in a land of faeries. The heroine, Feyre, goes from being the youngest sibling of three and sole provider for her family, to living in an magical faerie kingdom with her captor and his court held under a magical curse. I find Feyre to be a very relatable character and I get swept up in all the drama, action, and adventure she embarks upon in this story.

As a reread of this book, I was purposefully looking for important yet hidden foreshadowing by Sarah J. Maas and I was not disappointed. Even though I knew what was coming up next and I missed having that first time reading experience, I found myself smiling big when I got to my favorite parts and was pleasantly surprised to find some hidden gems that made the story that much more delicious.

The ACOTAR series has become my #1 Favorite series - which is not something I claim lightly as I have several series and books that I consider favorites. But Harry Potter has finally been knocked off the #1 spot for me (although HP still remains in top 3 easily, I’m not crazy).
