From Goodreads
Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.
The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.
Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.
Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.
My Review
I had been looking forward to reading this book since I first found out about it and then I preordered it the instant that option became available. I’ll be honest, Nesta was never my favorite ACOTAR character. But before I read this book I decided to do a reread of ACOTAR and in doing so, I found myself seeing a different side of Nesta. She is a very flawed character and SJM has said that she never meant to write Nesta as someone that people would instantly love, the girl has got some rough edges. SJM has also said that this book was deeply personal for her and she found Nesta’s journey similar to hers in a lot of ways. If you’re a fangirl like me, that’s enough of a buildup to make you stalk your mailbox and every FedEx truck that comes down your street.
It’s no surprise that I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is different from the other ACOTAR books but I think that’s to be expected since it’s in a different character’s POV (two character’s POV actually). A Court of Silver Flames is all about battling inner demons and feelings of self worth. Nesta is not a passenger on the struggle bus, she’s driving the dang thing. In her journey in ACOSF, Nesta learns so much about herself and what she’s capable of. She makes some incredible friends and learns her own strength. She also gets some pretty steamy scenes with everyone’s loveable and goofy Illyrian, Cassian. I loved that there was POV from Nesta and Cassian. As ACOSF primarily focused on Nesta’s mental health journey, it had less action than the other ACOTAR books. But I’m okay with that. I missed getting Feyre and Rhys’ POV but I also hope that the other books are in other members of the Inner Circle’s POV.
